FAQs

Does the quartet need lots of space and do you need anything else?

Ideally we would need a space approximately 3 x 2 metres. However, we have played in small churches with limited space. If your chosen venue is not known to us, part of our service to you would be to visit the church/venue beforehand to see where the best place would be for us to play for you and your guests.

We also require 4 armless chairs and you may wish to organise covers for these to match your guests' chairs. We bring everything else with us.

Do you take breaks or play all the time?

For 1 - 2 hour bookings we don’t usually need a break. For longer bookings we would take a short 10 -15 minutes break. When we discuss your event and music choices with you we would also plan the best time for us to take the break.

We are not getting married in church and our venue does not have an aisle. Can I still come in to the Wedding March?

Yes, just choose the Wedding March, or the piece of music that has a special meaning to you both and we will tailor it to the space available. If we haven’t played at your chosen venue before, part of our service to you would be to visit the venue beforehand and time your entry ourselves!

Can you play for our drinks reception even if it’s at a different venue from the ceremony?

We are happy to play your guests out of the church and then move on to your next venue ready to welcome your guests with music. Please discuss this with us when you book.

Can you play outside?

It’s always enjoyable to play in the fresh air, as long as it’s not raining or very windy. We would need some shade or cover like a gazebo or awning as stringed instruments need protection from the sun. Please discuss this with us when you book.

What area do you cover?

We are based in Kingston upon Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. If your event is further away we would need to discuss travelling time and relevant costs with you.

Can I have any song I want?

Start by looking through our current ‘What we Play’ lists’ If you can’t find the piece you particularly want then please tell us and we may be able to source a string quartet arrangement for you. There may be a small extra cost involved, but we would always discuss this with you first. We are always happy to expand our repertoire!

How much music do I need to choose?

Part of our service to you is to help you choose both the music and the right amount. You might want to choose a few special pieces (e. g. for the Bride’s entrance) and leave the rest to us. Or you may prefer to choose all of the music for your event. Either way, we will talk it through with you well in advance of the day and then check the timings and the venue. We always bring extra music just in case.

Do I need to let anyone official know what our music choices are?

Yes.  Please make sure that you check with the person conducting your ceremony that they are happy with your choice of music and songs as there are official rules of what is allowed depending on your choice of church or non-religious ceremony.

I’ve heard your sound bites, where can I hear you play live and talk to you?

We regularly play in concerts and at Wedding Fayres. To find the date and venue of our next event, please follow us on facebook.

When would I need to pay you?

The deposit has to be paid when you book us; that confirms your booking. The balance is due no later than one week before your event. You can pay by cash, cheque or bank credit transfer.
